“Mahathisagama” Samanabedde, Welikanda Uhana in Ampara District was declared open

The 27th model village in the name of “Mahathisagama” at Samanabedde in Welikanda Uhana in Ampara District was vested in the public on 13th May 2017 under the New Village Reawakening Programme by Hon.Sajith Premadasa, Minister of Housing and Construction.

At the time of late President Hon.Ransinghe Premadasa 1,150 new housing units in 15 reawakening villages in Ampara District were vested in the Public. In addition, 250 revamped houses in 02 reawakening villages were vested in the public.

Under the control of current good governance regime, the construction of 100 housing units in 4 new reawakening villages initiated in 2015, of 192 housing units in 8 reawakening villages in 2016 and of 306 new housing units in 10 reawakening villages in 2017 was carried through.

This village consists of 25 new housing units. The National Housing Development Authority had given low interest rate housing loans for the construction of “Mahathisagama” under Community Participatory Housing Development Programme.

Benefits hereunder were beneficial to the people by vesting the “Mahathisagama” model village in the public.

  • The titles thereof were handed over to 25 recipient families of housing in the village.
  • Scattered housing loans worth Rs.50 Million were granted to 500 low income families in the area.
  • Housing aids valued at Rs.10 Million were offered for 50 families with kidney failure.
