National Housing Day

The Cabinet of Ministers in 2015 designated June 23 as National Housing Day. A spate of programmes were conducted from June 23 to mark the day and the proceeds from the sale of year’s national housing day flag were channeled to a fund for constructing houses for homeless victims of the acute renal failure.

The first flag Shelter for all Development Programme – 2016 Progress as at 31.10.2016 Housing programmes implemented using treasury funds Development programmes implemented using internal funds and other funds Housing programmes continuationwas pinned on His Excellency the President by the Hon. Prime Minister. Correspondingly,the district offices sold flags and conducted religious events and other development activities throughout the flag week. Last year Rs. 3 million was raised from the sale of Housing Day flags and this year the amount raised was Rs. 10 million.
