Hon. Indika Anuruddha, State Minister of Rural Housing and Construction & Building Materials Industries Promotion said that the construction work of the Millennium Ward Complex and OPD building at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila will be completed within a few days to accommodate the patients in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Minister pointed out that it is a great need for the country to improve and develop the hospital system in the face of Covid-19 pandemic in the country and he said that the construction work will be completed under a proper plan following proper health directives in this current the Covid – 19 risk.
The Minister stated this while inspecting the construction works of the Millennium Ward Complex and the OPD building at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila today (03).
The is a 10 storey building consists of 07 operating theaters, 05 laboratories, 02 OPDs and ward complexes and it is being constructed with Rs.743 million provisions of the Ministry of Health.
Its construction is being carried out by the State Engineering Corporation of Sri Lanka (SEC) under the State Ministry of Rural Housing and Construction and Building Materials Promotion.
Mr. Ratnasiri Kalupahana, Chairman of SEC, Mr. Bhagya Jayathilake, Vice Chairman of SEC and a number of officials were present on this occasion.
